After illness forced I-Li to leave her job in the tech industry, she looked for a new path. Although she had grown up helping out in her parents’ restaurant, she thought she didn’t want a career in the food industry. But on a whim she applied for and landed an internship at Serendipity Chocolates.
I-Li completed the Ecole online chocolate course and their master chocolatier course in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Vice Chocolates opened for business on Valentine’s Day in 2008. Vice has won numerous awards for its complex, quality chocolates, and has received press coverage ranging from local blogs to national publications.
Vice Chocolates are currently available at Star Grocery (Oakland), The Pasta Shop (Oakland & Berkeley), and Chocolate Covered (San Francisco). They are also available online and Sundays at the Temescal Farmer’s Market in Oakland.
